Each year a large number of Anime are being released, but as some fans only watch mainstream Anime which are made by major studios with a strong track record, and due to the amount of Anime produced, some shows slip under the radar of the audience and do not receive the recognition they deserve. Only a small number of people know about these Anime and often they are considered underrated. If you've seen all the famous shows of recent times and are craving for something new and fresh, don't worry, we have prepared a list of 10 underrated Anime shows you should be watching.

10 - Code: Realize – Guardian Of Rebirth

Code: Realize-Guardian Of Rebirth is an Anime based on a visual novel and it is produced by studio M.S.C. The entire Anime is about a young girl with a deadly device embedded in her chest—capable of producing infinite power. The story tells her struggle while different factions attempt to take control of the device.

Arsene Lupin is the main protagonist of the series who is a gentleman thief with the ambition of saving and helping people. He meets Cardia Beckford, a young girl embedded with a device “Horologium” which can produce infinite energy. Cardia has a shy caring personality which makes her character loveable.

The story follows Lupin as he tries to save Cardia from various factions while learning more about her father Issac Beckford and the reason behind implanting “Horologium” inside his daughter's chest.

The Anime has a beautiful art style with a heartwarming storyline, no pun intended. The Anime consists of 1 season and 12 episodes in total.

9 - Psychic Detective Yakumo

Psychic Detective Yakumo is based on a light novel and is produced by the studio Bee Train. The whole Anime revolves around a detective with the ability to see and communicate with dead spirits. He solves mysterious cases regarding spirits upon people’s requests.

Yakumo Saitou might seem to be like an ordinary college student who lives in the Filming Club Room but he isn't who he seems to be. He was born with “Heterochromia Iridis”. His left eye is crimson red, which allows him to see and communicate with spirits. This red-eye has caused him many troubles throughout his life.

Yakumo has a cynical and cold demeanor on the outside, but deep down he is a good guy. He meets Haruka Ozawa, the Anime's main female protagonist, who seeks his assistance after her friend gets possessed by a demon.

Yakumo decides to assist her, but then a series of unexplained events connected to the case start occurring. With the aid of Haruka, Yakumo decides to solve them by using his supernatural abilities.

The Anime has a well-written mystery plot with elements of suspense and action. It consists of 1 season and 13 episodes in total.

8 - Armed Girl’s Machiavellism

Produced by the studio Silver Link Connect, the Anime follows a delinquent as he makes his way through a high school where girls have complete control of everything.

Fudou Nomura is transferred to Aichi Symbiosis Academy, where girls control everything and force boys to dress and behave like girls as a punishment. Under these circumstances, Nomura sets out to defeat the Supreme Five and win his long-awaited independence.

He defeats Rin Onigawara first, surprising everyone with his special ability "Magic Bullet," and cements himself as a force to be reckoned with and the story takes off. Will he be able to defeat all five members and attain freedom? Watch the Anime to find out.

The Anime has decent animation but more importantly a humorous plot. It consists of 1 season and 13 episodes total including 1 OVA episode.

7 - The Asterisk War

The entire Anime revolves around people born with magical abilities who study in various special institutes before being chosen to compete in a tournament known as Festa.

The series' main character, Amagiri Ayato, is moved to the prestigious Seidoukan Academy. As a "Genestella," Ayato possesses exceptional abilities.

He meets Julis Riessfeld, the main female protagonist of the series, a top foreign student at the academy. Ayato and Julis gradually become friends and participated in the Festa as a duo.

The Anime has stunning animation and includes some epic battles. The Anime consists of 2 seasons and 24 episodes in total.

6 - La storia della Arcana Famiglia

La storia della Arcana Famiglia is based on a visual novel. The entire Anime revolves around an organization with strong powers governing the island of Regalo while also defending its inhabitants from criminals and maintaining the peace of the island.

The Anime features people with powerful abilities. They get their powers by making a contract with Tarot Cards. Each one of them has different abilities depending upon different contracts with cards.

Felicita is the Anime's main female protagonist and the daughter of Mondo and Sumire. She is a confident young lady who is both determined and compassionate.

Felicita has made two contracts with different cards. One with “The Lovers” (6th Arcana) and one with “Wheel Of Fortune” (10th Arcana) both of these cards grant her powerful abilities.

The Anime has a unique and interesting story with decent animation. The Anime consists of 1 season and 12 episodes in total.

5 - Servant X Service

This Anime is centered on three new civil servants and their daily struggles. They become aware of their job's harshness and difficulty.

Lucy Yamagami is the main female protagonist of the series who decides to choose the field of civil services to find out about the Civil Servant who approved her long and humorous name. Her real name is Lucy Kimiko Akie Airi Shiori Rinne Yoshiho Ayano Tomika Chitose Sanae Mikiko Ichik…. and it continues.

She meets Yutaka Hasebe, a coworker of Lucy. He has a carefree and slacking personality. However, he is very intelligent and excels at everything. Hasebe is always found slacking off and teasing Lucy like asking her out and playing with her cowlick.

This slice-of-life comedy Anime also has pretty good animation, so if you are looking to watch something entertaining and feel good then give it a try. The Anime has 1 season and 13 episodes in total.

4 - Alderamin on the Sky

Alderamin On The Sky is based on a light novel and is produced by the studio Madhouse. The whole Anime revolves around a group of people who happened to save the princess of an empire and are awarded the title of “Imperial Soldiers”. Thus, their life serving the empire as their soldiers start.

Ikta Solork is accepted as an Imperial Soldier into the Katjvarna Empire's army after saving the princess. He has a sarcastic and sluggish temperament, however, he is a brilliant strategist.

He meets Yatorishino Igesm, a skilled swordswoman enrolled in the empire army as an Imperial Soldier. She is also a childhood friend of Ikta Solork.

The Anime has an interesting plot with epic battle scenes and will please a wide variety of audiences. The Anime has 1 season and 13 episodes in total.

3 - Assasins’s Pride

In a world, where monsters called “Lycanthropes” lives, females born with abilities set out to save the cities from them.

Melida Angel is the only daughter of the main angel family. Even though she is born in the prestigious Angel Family she hasn’t manifested any “Paladin”.

She meets Kufa Vampir, who is a member of Guild Jack Raven. He was tasked with the assassination of Melida Angel. However, he gets impressed by her determination and decided to help her.

The Anime has decent animation with a romance-oriented story. The Anime got 1 season and 12 episodes in total.

2 - Terror in Resonance

Terror in Resonance revolves around two boys posing themselves as terrorists in order to send a message to the arrogant world while concealing their tragic reality.

Nine and Twelve, the main protagonists of the series, were childhood friends and participants in an experiment known as "The Athena Plan," which aimed to “educate” children with special powers.

Nine and Twelve started making online videos with the name “Sphinx” expressed as a “Terrorist Group” to convey a message about their undeniable existence in the world.

Twelve meets Lisa Mishima, who is dealing with depression and anxiety. Twelve helps her out and they become closer.

This is a very well-written show with many layers of storytelling. It has an enticing art style that captures the essence of Tokyo perfectly.

The Anime has 1 season and 11 episodes in total.

1 - Banana Fish

Banana Fish is a based on a manga of the same name. The whole Anime revolves around a young boy who is the leader of a gang and the adopted son of a godfather, searching for a mysterious thing called “Banana Fish”.

Aslan Jade Callenreese AKA Ash Lynx is the main protagonist of the Anime who happens to find a mysterious drug from a dying person and starts investigating it. Ash is the adopted son of Dino Golzine, who has a very messed up personality.

Ash meets Eiji Okumura a photographer from Japan. Eiji gets involved in a gang battle and Ash saves the day. The two of them become close friends.

Ash is trained to be a ruthless killer with a sarcastic and twisted personality. However, he is kind deep down he always saves his friends.

Banana Fish tackles a variety of mature themes and plots, all of which are thought-provoking. The best aspect of this Anime, aside from its well-written plot, is its strong cast of characters. If the plot falls short at times, these characters more than make up for it.

The Anime has 1 season and 24 episodes in total so give it a try.
