Top 5 Inspiring Anime that can get you through the Tough Times in Life

Life is tough. The daily grind is hard. We all need terminal doses of inspiration from time to time. To not forget our dreams, why are we doing this. What is our purpose? What is the end goal? Will remaining on the road you have chosen, get you to where you ultimately want to go?

All these questions can often time take a back seat as we continue on with the daily routine.

But it doesn’t have to be that way. What’s the point if you are living your life lifelessly?

There has to come a time when one finally escapes this paradox, and what if that time is right now?

If you are stagnant, scared, or insecure about something that is happening in your life, and want the inspiration needed to help you get through it all.

These anime may very well be the pat on the back you need.

Well then, shall we begin?

Please not that they aren’t arranged or ranked in any order.

1 - Haikyuu!!

“Today maybe the day you seize the opportunity to make your talent bloom, or maybe tomorrow, the day after that, or even next year, or maybe even after you turn thirty. The time you choose to make it happen is up to you but if you think you don’t have it then you probably won’t have it for your entire life.”

-Tooru Oikawa

While it may be an anime about Volleyball, the nuanced character writing, mental dilemmas, differing philosophies, losing, winning, and the steps along the way, it can teach you so much more than that.

The protagonist named Hinata Shoyo is someone who spent all three years of his junior high hoping to someday play in a real match. His school didn’t really have a volleyball club, so he practiced alone, and sometimes with his friends from other clubs. Finally, when he gets his shot at a real match after three whole years.

His team is pitted against a powerhouse and loses every set.

Though this isn’t enough to bring Hinata down.

Just like how a Phoenix is reborn from the ashes. He’ll rise again!

Now guys, don’t keep yourself from watching this anime just because you aren’t interested in Volleyball. Believe me, everything will grow on you if you just give it a chance.

2 - Bakuman

“But in the end, past all that, the stupid ones who dream, but are smart enough not to get lost in their dreams, are the ones who can get to the top. That’s what I believe.”

-Takagi Akito

Bakuman is a tale of two friends who embark on the exhausting and stressful journey of becoming successful manga artists.

There is Mashiro, he always wanted to become a Manga artist, but as he grew older, the dream sort of fell back into the background.

Then there is Takagi, he simply wants an artist who can bring his stories to life. He is an intelligent student but wants to live his life on his own terms.

Mashiro is initially not so cooperative when Takagi asks him to become his partner, but when his long-term crush Azuki Miho agrees to marrying him once their dreams come true, he changes his tune.

He’ll become a successful manga artist, and she’ll become a successful voice actor. And when their dreams finally come true, she’ll voice act the main female lead of the anime adaption of the manga he and Takagi have created.

Hearing this, Mashiro no longer needs any more reasons to start drawing.

I’d say, seeing these gradually make their mark in shounen jump despite all the hardships and mental fortitudes is genuinely inspiring.

3 - A Place Further than the Universe

“Just let people say what they want. Wanting to show them up fires me up even more.”

-Shirase Kobuchizawa

“A place further than the Universe” is not just an anime. It’s a journey.

An emotionally rich tale of a few girls who embark on the journey to the south most region of this planet. “The Ice,” the land called, “Antarctica.”

Though of course, how can a bunch of high school girls just decide and go to Antarctica? It’s not that simple.

But that is what makes this anime so meaningful to watch. The struggle makes you feel alive and leaves you with the lasting desire to go on a journey.

4 - Uchuu Kyoudai (Space Brothers)

“If you ever get scared again and start to wonder why you’re alive, in the end always choose life. I want you to live.”

-Mutta Nanba

You don’t usually see people talking about Space Brothers, which is such a shame considering just how much this anime has to offer, not only in terms of inspiration, but also in terms of character writing, human drama, resolving conflicts, development, and plot progression.

Two brothers one day vow to become astronauts and go to the moon.

But the older brother has fallen off that promise, he is working as a car designer for a company but gets fired because of a headbutt. Meanwhile, the younger brother has successfully become an astronaut. The day when he walks on the moon isn’t that far away.

Seeing how he is a failure compared to his brother, and after realizing that his mother had secretly sent his application to the Japanese Aerospace Agency, the older brother realizes that it might be the time to finally fulfill the promise from that time!

Guys, since this anime is about the process of becoming an astronaut, its incredibly realistic.

But that’s exactly what makes it so profound. The realism is what inspires you, seeing all these characters grow and fulfill their dreams is genuinely satisfying. It just fills you with life and dreams!

5 - Hajime no Ippo

“This one is the hard truth of the world we live in today. That we can work really really hard, and still get nowhere. But to become the best, to succeed, anyone who has gotten to that pinnacle, has worked hard.”

-Kamigawa Genji

If anything, this anime would definitely teach you how to man up.

The story essentially follows a group of boxers who train at the Kamigawa boxing gym. They all have big ambitions.

Especially Takamura who seeks to become the World Champion. There is also Ippo, he was getting constantly bullied but when he saw Takamura in action, he knew it in his heart and soul that he needs to follow this man.

So, it begins. The journey of greatness for all these young and passionate men.

Boxing is a terrifying sport, the grueling everyday grind is harsh, but still, why do these folks continue to train?

There is a deeper meaning behind it. It’s much more than the simple idea, “It’s fun.”

Its definitely not something that can be explained through words. Rather, it has to be visually portrayed, and this anime does the job immaculately.

You’ll find your blood boiling as you witness the absolutely jarring display of sheer will, as the characters exhaust themselves not just physically, but also mentally and spiritually, and yet still continue on…

All for the sake of dominating the competition.

It is surreal to see!

So there you go guys. These were a few anime that you could watch if you are going through a rut.

Hope you like them!

That’s all folks!
